Violet

Rebekah and I were inventing duets together, and I wanted to share the rough draft up here. I made a little video to go with it - maybe I had a little too much fun fooling around with Windows Movie Maker!

Exalted

This is a song we heard for the first time at the Bible Forum in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The words are very thought-provoking, the tune is hauntingly beautiful, and it is so powerful to sing. *smile* This is a really good video if you're trying to learn how to sing the different parts since it scans the SATB shapenotes and the words as they are played in the song. Enjoy, and praise God.

Smoke Signals

Sarah: "Tyler, when you're over at the Robsons', just send smoke signals so's I know they're treating you right."
Shayla: "Sa-wah, people don't use smoke signals anymore! Silly!"
Sarah: "They don't? What do they use, then?"
Shayla: "They use cell phones."
Sarah: "Why don't we use them, though?"
Shayla: "They on-wy used them back then, when they had no electricity!"
Sarah: "Oh. Where'd you learn so much about smoke signals?"
Shayla: "Um.... I don't know."

Old Picture

I found this while clearing off a few old memory cards for mei camera.
I am hoping to bring home plenty of pictures from this year's Gettysburg trip! Please work, camera dear!

Babysitting the Nelson girls and Lizzy! Very interesting! Our oven wasn't working properly, so I made some no-bake "Preacher Cookies"... but I was distracted and I didn't boil the chocolate long enough. Sure enough, they never hardened up, so I scraped them into bowls and we had cookie soup! Necessity is the mother of invention!

Mothers' Day 2012

This is a video on how we spent Mothers' Day at Beavertail. (There also are some pictures in Photo Album, Continued.) Perhaps there is a lot of Lizzy-video in there, but I could record that child for hours and still be laughing! I like the quote at the end... so true... Anyways, enjoy the video! Sorry it's a little long!

La Sonrisa

It looked like a smiling face to me! I'm making M&M cookies using my mamm's old recipe... I have fond memories of eating these when my sisters and I were younger!

20 Wunderbaar Things

Some things that made mei day so wunderbaar (in no particular order) :

1. Getting locked in a genuine prison cell

2. Listening to Clementi Sonatina Op. 36 No. 6

3.  Receiving 498 post-it notes with messages on 475ish of them. (Jah, I counted them... and read each and every single one!)

4. Peeling potatoes with Shayla for shepherd's pie

5. Learning the price of state policemen's boots

6. Reading the Bible because as Shayla told AJ,  "We need to learn about God, okay, little guy?"

7. Watching two young 'uns being amazed at the wonder of headphones

 8. Watching a desk that moves up and down like a dentist's chair

9. Trying a Frosty parfait... and enjoying the first half, anyway!

10. Inventing a duet for Civil War tune "Lorena" with me on the violin and mei sister on the guitar

11. Finishing the book Feminine Appeal

12. Getting an email from an imposter

13. Quizzing Tyler on what to do at uncontrolled intersections.

14. Scaring Anaja with mei "frightfully bruised" arm

15. Mashing potatoes the best way - by hand.

16. Listening to crickets chirping outside mei open window

17. Learning what SWAT stands for

18. Peeling my finger instead of the potato (weird, but I enjoyed it since it didn't hurt and didn't bleed)

19. Sharing mei love of aprons with mei five-year-old friend

20. Realizing this is the 100th post on this blog!

Telephone Pictionary

An example of telephone pictionary! This one went from "crisscross applesauce" to "People wonder if a quill and ink should be in the world." !!!

Updated Photo Album

The photo album has been updated with pictures from last night. The Parenteaus came over, and we had a homemade Chinese dinner, as you can see.

(Hannah) May Flowers

This is the little bouquet I received tonight from little Hannah May after midweek service. She picked one for me on Sunday as well. It's so sweet to watch her learning how to serve others in the little ways she can.

No More Homework; No More Books...

Yes, that picture is very symbolic!!! I have forever finished with Spanish II!!!! I took my final exam tonight and now all I have to do is wait until he scores them and gives us our overall grades. No more 3 hour cramming sessions on Quizlet! No more poring over 300 vocabulary words! No more remembering 7 different tenses and all their irregularities! No more estres de Espanol... until Spanish III, anyways!!! I have officially completed my final CCRI class! No more college until FC!

The picture on the far right is one that Hannah took of me shunning my Spanish textbook and drinking my celebratory vanilla bean coolatta! Ohhh so good. The one beneath it I snipped from my "to-do" list of exam preparation. "The exam will be easy," Professor said. "It will take you twenty minutes," Professor said. Let me tell you, that test was 9 pages long and took no less than an hour and a half!!!! I'm glad I didn't trust him! Poor professor. Much as I hate to admit it, I guess I will kinda miss his funny little quirks. "Don't jump now. It's safer here." (Trying to get us to pay attention.) And I'll miss hearing him say all the strange names of my classmates! I have no idea how to spell any of them, but it was the funniest thing to hear him call them out because he used the exact same inflection and tone every single time. I'll miss the way he brought his own wall clock (despite the fact that there was already one hanging on the wall) and his own Green Cleaner (because he didn't trust the whiteboard solution that they had provided) in his ominous big gray suitcase. I won't miss his growls, but I will miss the way he would randomly make himself laugh. He had the most contagious moments of mirth! Ah well. Good memories... but I'm still glad it's over!

Extract Parade

I love mei little parade of extracts! It's a strange little collecting hobby, I suppose, but there's nothing quite the same as experimenting with various flavorings. (No matter how fake! Sh! Don't spoil mei fun!) Among them: vanilla, clear vanilla (for frosting), almond, rum (like butter rum ice cream, people...), cherry, raspberry, lemon, orange, and coconut. The possibilities are endless! I made raspberry brownies for someone a couple weeks ago, and they confessed that they got out of bed at 2am to go eat another one! Orange coconut spritz... I'm addicted... coconut whipped cream... I can eat it by the spoonful... lemon poppyseed cookies... I like the lemon more than the poppyseeds...
