And... stay and watch the "special message" at the end. It has some good sentiments that I agree with. And *smile* it will answer the question I guess will pop into your head first off: "Is she a nun?" "Is she Amish?" I did not look up the "good test"... if you do end up following the link she gives then let me know what it was.
And fear ye not - the music is a Capella. Enjoy!
I must say I do love this song! She did a very good job.
ReplyDeleteAlso I agree that we need to be modest in our dress but I do think in a way that she might be taking it to an extreme. I think you can wear more current styles without having the focus being solely on the clothes. I hope that makes sense. I think when you were clothes that make you look like a nun or an Amish person then you are hurting the goal you are trying to accomplish.Let me know if this makes any sense to you.
I guess I think Amy Joy is a good example of modest and current.
I agree with you, certainly. And not that it matters, but just so you know, "coveredinharmony" is also fond of jumpers etc., not just the cape dresses. :)
ReplyDeleteMiss Amy Joy is a wonderful example of true modesty. Current... well, depends what you mean by current. Most "current" fashions are certainly not things I would not consider appropriate. I know you wouldn't either - and I do understand your point. More modern than 16th century is preferable!
Did Dustin's family record this song?
"Eccentric", which is just as eye-catching as modern "clothes". You must find a modest, in-between the extremes to fit in and NOT be noticed for your attire.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you, "Anonymous", and I'm not proclaiming that we should all dress like the Amish/nuns/what have you. But... sometimes modest attire does attract attention. For instance, if we all go to the beach and we're not running around in our *ahem* you-know-whats... well, I know from experience that will draw attention. But it's the kind of attention that makes people think "I wonder why she doesn't show off her thighs" rather than "oh, how desirable". (Pardon my frankness.)Some people like to walk that thin line between modesty and worldliness, which I do not agree with. But yes there are certainly extremes.I suppose our job is to find that happy medium! *smile* Okay, my sermon is over!
ReplyDeletePS: Thank you everybody for feedback. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm opposed to discussing it! Also: from a respectable source I have discovered that "coveredinharmony" is signing in Pidgin, a form of English signing that leaves out "ed" and "ing" etc. (I think English refers to the sentence order and not to the fact that Pidgin is from England... I'm not 100% sure on that, so don't quote me on it.)
