Blackmail.

Ladies and gentlemen! Presenting the latest blackmail video: designed specifically for the purpose of terrifying all seven Craig sisters, but out of the goodness of my heart I'll also share it with you! Prepare to be terrified. The worst is yet to come.

A few responses: "Oh, so this is what happens in the girls' dorm.... you girls make the guys look sane!" --- "For our safety, she probably didn't even post the crazier stuff. I shiver in horror to think what that might be." --- "This reminds me of how blessed I am!" :)

Winter Sunday Mornings

It's a gorgeous Sunday morning! Everywhere outside it looks like the Lord has indeed "spread the snow like wool", Psalm 147:16. Assembly has been delayed until eleven, but we are blessed to able to meet at all with the weather as it was. It's interesting to me how winter is at the same time both breathtakingly beautiful and life-threateningly hazardous, with its black ice and blizzards. I think maybe that's what adds some of the thrill.

For supper we get to spend time with brethren! It's definitely interesting seeing the differences in my Florida congregation and the one up here. Pretty eye-opening to contrast and compare, noting each one's respective strengths and weaknesses, and even just the different "traditions" each one clings to.

But back to snow. Stay safe, everyone, and enjoy this day that the Lord has made!

Home Again, Home Again

Before beginning this post, I would like to give an affectionate shout-out to Nora T., thanking her for all that she does and is and will become. Amen. This is the RI post as requested.

It's raining. If it were a little colder, it'd be a blizzard! Happy DAY! But there's something distinctly relaxing about rain, especially when you're looking out at it from inside a warm house that smells like challah, chai, and peanut butter cookies! Rainstorms here are different than the ones in Florida... down there it will downpour for anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. It'll thunder and rage and soak everything, then stop as suddenly as it starts. Tis pretty neat, but I like the more "subdued" New England versions that last for days on end. Oh, and didja know that Florida has purple lightning? It's the most bizarre thing! Something about the electrically charged air...? It really weirded me out at first!

Tomorrow we're headed off to the Berkshires. It sounds wunnerlich to say we're vacationing in MA, but so we are! Lots of packing, cooking, cleaning, etc. to get done, so I'll end this here. PS: I hope it snows!!!!!!

Recital

These are some videos of my first public performances at FC! Tonight's departmental recital went very well, I think... despite the fact that it was 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES LONG!!!! Crazy!!!  The video only has my trio and my duet with Sharon, since my solo (Mendelssohn's "Consolation") was cut off by my crazy camera.

Special thanks to the non-participating audience for sitting through the whole thing! We appreciate y'all's support!  :)

Banquet Night!

Here's the video of the actual Fall Event banquet night! I'm pretty sure we had the greatest group ever. *smile* Enjoy the video!

Monday, October 29, 2012

So... my roommate and I are going to make it a friendly foursome! Fall Banquet, here we come!

Due to confusion, I feel the need to clarify: We are going as a foursome. No one specifically asked another! Sharon and I asked Zach and Michael.

Mending Rug

A stitch in time saves nine. So... tonight, I laid flat out on the floor and stitched together our gradually fraying rug. No more tripping over oneself trying to open and close the door!

Baked Pasta

We made two baked pastas in the Terrace kitchen last night! Twas quite adventuresome! *smirk*

Good Morning, Campus.

So I needed a little fresh air this morning... the campus really is a lovely place at sunrise.

3am. And. Still. Going. Strong....?

Leah and I are studying for midterms. We studied apologetics for three hours together, and now we're taking shifts. I sleep for 15 minutes while she studies for psych, then she sleeps 15 minutes while I study for aural. Then we wake up and study some more apologetics. It's 3am now, so if I get fifteen minutes of sleep every hour, by the time I leave for class tomorrow I'll have gotten almost one and a half hours of sleep. That doesn't sound like much, but it's better than an all-nighter! We're living on candy corn, caffeinated tea, protein bars, and popcorn. Welcome to college, I suppose! :)

Day 1 / 21

Last Friday during the student-led devotion, Caleb challenged us to join him on a 21-day no-complaining stretch. So now I am wearing an elastic band around my left wrist. If I complain today, I have to switch it to my right wrist and start over with Day 1. I think it's a pretty good idea... join me and many other of the students here as we learn to glorify God with our speech!

Good Afternoon. My Name is Coconut.

I went to Chipotle for lunch after worship with about ten other collegians from Antioch, then came home and  worked an hour in the writing lab. My roommate and I just had an amazing snack. Now we're about to take a nap. Sunday afternoons are muchly enjoyable....

Update on Life

Due to some recent requests, I am here to update you on my life. :)

What are your classes like?

W-e-l-l. I guess it depends which class we're talking about! On M, W, F, my day starts at 9:15 with Music Theory. This Monday we have a quiz on relative major and minor scales... so I am planning to get together with some of my fellow music majors who are equally petrified! Then of course at 10:00 we have chapel, followed by Old Testament History and Geography with former FC president Dr. Caldwell. Usually after that it's around noon, so I go to the "caf" with a bunch of other friends. Sometimes after that I'll check my mailbox before the terrifying event of math class! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I groggily stumble to Music Technology class at 8:15. Our latest assignment is to pick a 40-sec movie and compose at least a five-part orchestral score for it. (!!!) Then comes Aural Theory... singing quizzes at 9 are very interesting phenomena! Chapel is at 10, at 11 I have Health and Wellness, where we are informed that calcium supplements increase your risk of heart disease by 30%! I eat lunch, then I have my personal piano lesson at 1. I usually have about 30 seconds between it and charging headlong across the parking lot to my Apologetics class at 2! Every Friday afternoon at 3 I have Piano Ensemble. I'm learning my first trio: six hands, one piano! A little crowded!

What do you do at night?

Terrorize the campus! :) I usually have plenty of homework to keep me busy. I like to do it while sitting in Bocky's bungee cord chair. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I work in the writing lab. On Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights there are student-led devotionals upstairs in Sutton Lobby, so I like to go to those when I can. We fool around a little when the homework starts to stress us out too much, and my bedtime is pretty regularly between 1:30 and 2am. It's pretty great here in Sutton after curfew!

How do you spend your weekends?

Friday nights are amazing! We stay up late and do minimal amounts of homework. Lots of times there are events going on, like concerts or talent shows. Last night I watched "Emma" with the Craigs and fell asleep in their room about halfway through, but Sharon didn't notice since she fell asleep in the common room watching a movie with Valarie! Every other Saturday, we go to Mrs. Atherton's house for a Bible study. She provides us with tea and breakfast, and each week a different girl takes a turn leading the study. Sometimes there are society events or Bible studies to go to... Arete spent a few hours pulling weeds around campus last Saturday, and we went to Chik-fil-a for lunch afterwards. In the afternoon around 4, Brian leads a study in Joshua up in Sutton lobby. On Saturday nights we do a bit of homework and get ready for Sunday.

Any other questions may be posted as comments, and I will answer them as soon as I can!

Pranked Again!

Special thanks to the certain someones who helped so enthusiastically. You know who you are!

Moral of this story: don't leave Suttonites unguarded.

Sick...

So. I have bronchitis. It's been kinda rough keeping up with all mei classes and homework and whatnot while I'm feeling so terrible, but yesterday I was diagnosed and prescribed some medicine to help speed along recovery. The school nurse instructed me to take the day off from classes, so I slept until *gasp* *faint* 3pm!!! I've never slept that late in mei entire life! But it felt soooo good. Now I'm up and eating a salad from the Pouch so I can take mei medicines, and while I was at the "Stud" I picked up my happy mail. 100% on an aural quiz, 100% on a OTHG (Old Testament History & Geography) quiz, and two large envelopes picked up at the main desk! One was from Angela and V... thanks so  much for the collage and cards! I hung up all three in mei room right away. The other one was from Pickle.... I was so mad when I read "do not open until Sept. 12"!!!
The picture above is of the flowers and note mei roommate left for me whilst I slumbered. *smile* She's so good to me, even while she lives in fear of catching mei disease! We've sterilized the room, segregated our towels, and whatnot all!
Oh, and I have an appointment with Valerie Maness...  we'll be watching Bleak House on Friday night!! Yippeee!!

Violet Video (Rough Draft)

Awwww... prepare for some ultimate cuteness! Love ya, V!

GRASSHOPPER!

This little beastie was outside our OPEN SCREENLESS window this afternoon! EEK!

Rain!

Just back from walking 15 minutes to CVS and 15 minutes back in the rain! Quite the trio we make!

Room Collage

Sutton

Had to post this picture... a few nights ago we broke out the mugs and had a tea party! I'm so grateful for this group of girls and the great times we enjoy... whether it's hiding in the closet, exploring, running through thunderstorms, watching Mary Poppins, playing Go Fish, sharing cookies, doing homework, or whatever new adventure we're having together! (Yes, homework is an adventure!)

I visited a great congregation in Antioch today, and I met Hannah Grieving's grandparents, which was really neat. So few  people come from RI that whenever I say it's where I'm from folks immediately ask if I know the Antayas, or the Robsons, or the Reeves, or Miss Donna Polk, or whomever! It's a nice conversation starter. :)

Nicati and Sharon and I are walking to CVS at 2, then we have evening service around 5. Antioch is having a song service, and the church at Brandon is having a lesson on marriage. And I quote: "You should come to Brandon! They're having a special lesson on marriage! It's kinda weird, but everyone's going!" (Insert smirk.)
