Update on Life

Due to some recent requests, I am here to update you on my life. :)

What are your classes like?

W-e-l-l. I guess it depends which class we're talking about! On M, W, F, my day starts at 9:15 with Music Theory. This Monday we have a quiz on relative major and minor scales... so I am planning to get together with some of my fellow music majors who are equally petrified! Then of course at 10:00 we have chapel, followed by Old Testament History and Geography with former FC president Dr. Caldwell. Usually after that it's around noon, so I go to the "caf" with a bunch of other friends. Sometimes after that I'll check my mailbox before the terrifying event of math class! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I groggily stumble to Music Technology class at 8:15. Our latest assignment is to pick a 40-sec movie and compose at least a five-part orchestral score for it. (!!!) Then comes Aural Theory... singing quizzes at 9 are very interesting phenomena! Chapel is at 10, at 11 I have Health and Wellness, where we are informed that calcium supplements increase your risk of heart disease by 30%! I eat lunch, then I have my personal piano lesson at 1. I usually have about 30 seconds between it and charging headlong across the parking lot to my Apologetics class at 2! Every Friday afternoon at 3 I have Piano Ensemble. I'm learning my first trio: six hands, one piano! A little crowded!

What do you do at night?

Terrorize the campus! :) I usually have plenty of homework to keep me busy. I like to do it while sitting in Bocky's bungee cord chair. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I work in the writing lab. On Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights there are student-led devotionals upstairs in Sutton Lobby, so I like to go to those when I can. We fool around a little when the homework starts to stress us out too much, and my bedtime is pretty regularly between 1:30 and 2am. It's pretty great here in Sutton after curfew!

How do you spend your weekends?

Friday nights are amazing! We stay up late and do minimal amounts of homework. Lots of times there are events going on, like concerts or talent shows. Last night I watched "Emma" with the Craigs and fell asleep in their room about halfway through, but Sharon didn't notice since she fell asleep in the common room watching a movie with Valarie! Every other Saturday, we go to Mrs. Atherton's house for a Bible study. She provides us with tea and breakfast, and each week a different girl takes a turn leading the study. Sometimes there are society events or Bible studies to go to... Arete spent a few hours pulling weeds around campus last Saturday, and we went to Chik-fil-a for lunch afterwards. In the afternoon around 4, Brian leads a study in Joshua up in Sutton lobby. On Saturday nights we do a bit of homework and get ready for Sunday.

Any other questions may be posted as comments, and I will answer them as soon as I can!

  1. Loved this update! FC sounds like a really fun place to be and I'm very glad that you are able to have this experience.
    Do you ever feel homesick?
You probably don't have time to but that was one other question I was thinking of. Hope you have a great week this week! Love you muchly!

  2. hey Sarah, it's been ages since I've talked to you!
It sounds like you're crazy busy, but it also sounds like you like being busy! Forty-second orchestral piece...sounds like my cup of tea! I'd pick a scene from the Lord Of The Rings. I wish I could hear it.
Queries: How often do you have at least one hour of free time? Do you miss usns back home? What is your favorite part of hanging out together? Whose dorm room do you terrorize the most?
I love you and I miss you terribly. Stay strong in God, and always remember your adoring (mostly) little sister
    - Rebekah :) :) :) :)
