It's been snowing since noon and it is steadily coming down. I'm really, RE-E-EALLY hoping that tonight's Spanish class will be cancelled! I am watching every update on the weather channels and cancellation sites... and cramming in some Spanish preterites in-between!!! Oh, tests are so stressful. I could definitely use another week to study.

Jinger Learns to Drive (2/3)

Lately I've been watching some of the Duggar family videos on YouTube, and I found this one where Jinger learns to drive. (17 Kids and Counting.) I thought it was funny; I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't have much of a clue what I'm doing! Only difference: Jinger was 15 and driving a stick-shift. And she had fields to drive over while I practice in small parking lots! Anyway. Enjoy the video! (Gotta love her hilarious facial expressions.) Also included: the older children play "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" on the violin while the younger ones learn their bow-hold (thanks to Pickle, I can hold it just as well as Johannah and Jackson!) as well as Josiah's homemade "unselfish pinata".

Driving

I drove! I drove! Sure it was only in a middle school parking lot, and sure it was only for about 8 minutes, but I really sat behind the steering wheel and STEERED and PRESSED THE PEDALS and DROVE!

It was the strangest thing, really. And scary. And exciting. I still feel like I'm too small to have any business being in charge of a massive car, but I just got mei permit papers today and it's all official and legal.

Mei daed surprised me, actually. I didn't think I'd be driving today. But he pulled into that parking lot, got out, and told me to get into the driver's seat. So I did! "Now, start the car," he said, "and make sure you only give the gas a light touch." So I twisted the key in the ignition and gave the gas pedal a tap. Nothing happened, so I pressed harder. Still nothing, so I pressed even harder. The tachometer needle passed the mark of "3" and the engine started making a strange revving sound. So, naturally, I screamed. He started laughing at me, and then I realized I was still in Park.

I have a lot to learn!
